Walden Associates Volunteers at Habitat of Humanity

To celebrate its 13th year in business, Walden Associates helped build a house for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County. Walden Associates is an environmental engineering and consulting company located in Oyster Bay. On June 19, 2008, the office donated their time to hang sheetrock inside the East Patchogue house destined for a single mom with two sets of twin sons.

Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk has built 120 houses since 1987, housing over 450 adults and children. Habitat is currently building in Patchogue, Bellport, Coram, and Wyandanch with the majority of their labor being done by volunteers. This allows them to keep down costs, and in the end, help more families. Local statistics show that more than 500 single and double income families are currently living in shelters in Suffolk and need a simple, decent, affordable place to live. Habitat strives to eliminate poverty housing by giving hard working families a hand-up NOT a hand-out. For more information you can go to www.habitatsuffolk.org.
