Walden is dedicated to helping its clients' environmental compliance problems. Walden prides itself with detailed understanding of Federal, State and Local environmental Regulations, coupled with an excellent working relationship with the various Regulatory Agencies.
Environmental Site Assessments
Walden evaluates the environmental liability of commercial and industrial properties through Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to enable our clients who are involved in real estate transactions to make informed decisions and meet requirements to secure funding from lending agencies. Under the scope of a Phase I ESA, Walden conducts a thorough review of a property and its records to identify areas of known or potential environmental problems and liabilities. Steps include making Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) record requests to government agencies, reviewing historic records for the propery and surrounding areas, interviewing site personnel, and conducting a site inspection.

Groundwater/Soil Investigation
Walden is experienced in providing our clients cost-effective investigative solutions to determine if there has been a release of contaminants to or from a property. Based on areas of concern identified in a Phase I ESA, Walden may need to further evaluate the environmental liability of a property through a Phase II ESA investigation. Phase II ESA activities may include geophysical/remote sensing surveys, soil and groundwater sampling, testing underground injection well structures, and storage tank testing. Walden uses Phase II ESA results and conducts further investigation, as required, to determine the nature and extent of contaminant releases to the subsurface and to classify soil and groundwater impacts.

Fuel Oils and Chemical Storage Compliance
Walden performs compliance inspections to evaluate fuel oil and chemical storage systems in relation to applicable regulations enforced by state and local agencies, such as the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Nassau County Department of Health, Suffolk County Department of Health Services, and Nassau and Suffolk County Fire Marshals. Walden provides our clients with cost-saving options to fully comply with all regulations.
